Store Opening on May 22nd

Plans for Opening the Riverside Canoes Store

We are going to give it a good college try and are opening the Riverside store on Friday May 22, 2020 for a trial Covid opening. Our store will be open for the essentials; gas and groceries and of course ice cream. If all goes well, we will remain open.

According to Michigan Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders we are unable to open for outdoor recreation activities to include transportation shuttles.  This order extends through the stay-at-home order date of May 28, 2020 or until she updates again or extends. We are terribly sorry we can not provide the services you are accustom to. We need to follow governmental guidelines and balance providing what services we can in a safe manner. We will do everything we can to protect our customers and staff.

If you come visit us we ask that you bring your mask to enter the store.  We do have restrictions according to our size of store and may have to limit the amount of customers at one time, so please be patient.

Keep This in Mind for Outdoor Recreation

If anyone is in the area during the Memorial Day holiday weekend and in need of outdoor fun, we will be selling our used equipment.  Private outdoor recreation is allowed. Give us a call if you are in interested.

On another note:  Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore currently has certain areas of the park that are closed. The following National Park amenities are currently NOT available:

  • Parking
  • Boat launches with parking
  • The Dune Climb and Scenic Drive
  • All trails and bathrooms

We will update you as we receive more information.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at 231-325-5622

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

– The Orr’s and staff of Riverside Canoes
